Blog 07 - Spring dreaming

One thing I've missed since moving to Alberta is the spring time back on the island. Nothing beats the sunny, mellow, 15 degree days of springtime in Victoria. Fortunately, I was on spring break and flew back to spend some time at home.
Within a morning of being back and looking at the forecast, I decided to take the FC out of storage and get some use out of it!

Under the storage cover exposed this. The car stayed nice and clean under the amazon basics car cover (thx Jeff Bezos).
With the help of a good friend we unloaded the car, threw some insurance on it, and it fired up after a couple tries. All in all the car was running nice. The CA18 was rumbling away under the hood, trans was shifting smooth, and not leaks had developed while sitting. I had spent a couple of days further tuning it before the end of last summer, and it was boosting smooth and all temps were in order.
First day I drove to one of my favorite spots to snap some pictures:

It was a really clear day out:

This was my first time trying out pics with a proper camera. I'm sure there is lots of adjusting I should be doing to get clearer shots! I have no idea what I'm doing

That evening the wife and I headed out to the beach:

It was a beautiful sunset and we just caught the end of it!

Later in the week we headed down to Sooke for coffee in the morning.
The drive there was good, but my drivers window switch decided to quit on the way there, and I drove with the window halfway down. Luckily my wife was a good sport and didn't mind too much. I think it bothered me more than her!

We checked out this lighthouse close by. Shiori was happy :)

Then made a stop at this farm on the way back:

The roads out in Sooke are incredible for driving - windy, various elevation changes, the ocean is right beside you, there are sweeping hills, and no authorities or heavy traffic. It really felt like this car was meant for these kind of roads, even set up as a drift car.
Looking back, I think when I was younger and building the car, I always imagined taking it on these sorts of roads and enjoying the car fully. You know, not worrying about it breaking down or anything. I guess this day had come, but it felt different then I expected, as I'm older now.
We grabbed some gas on the way back and I snapped this pic:

The following evening we put the car back in storage:

And that was a wrap for this trip.
